God the Almighty

Rejoice always.
Pray without ceasing.
In all circumstances, give thanks,
for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
(1 Thess 5:16-18)

Who We Are

God the Almighty Charismatic Prayer Foundation International of Alberta, also known as the GTA Prayer Foundation, was founded on the birthday of Mother Mary on September 8th, 2006. We are a lay Catholic charismatic society and a registered charitable society in Canada. Our purpose is to praise and worship God and live a renewed life in the Spirit. We are families and individuals who come together on weekends to pray. We also honour Mary through daily recitations of the holy rosary. GTA prayer communities are in Alberta and British Columbia. The GTA charismatic prayer foundation is led by its Lay Servant Head Bro. Lito Pagapong, along with the members of the Board, Office and Chapter Coordinators.

What We Do

We witness to the Gospel through personal and family renewal, community prayers, active parish engagements, spiritual and social support for foreign workers and new immigrant families, and fellowship.

  1. Personal spiritual life
We may be far from being holy, but we will continue aiming for it – to “walk before Him and be blameless.” Coming to the GTA charismatic prayer meeting is spiritual enrichment. Many of us are witnesses of healing, conversion, and renewal in the Spirit that have been taking place in our communities. We enrich our spiritual life through prayer, Sacraments, acts of charity, and participation in prayer reflections and teachings.
  2. Family Prayer
GTA prayer communities have embraced the practice of daily family prayer. By doing so, we welcome Christ into our households. As Pope Francis said, "Christian families are missionary families, in their everyday life, in their doing everyday things, as they bring to everything the salt and the leaven of faith!" (2013 Family Day Celebration)
  3. Community Prayer
GTA prayer communities come together weekly to pray before the Blessed Sacrament, to recite the Holy Rosary, to sing psalms of praise and worship, to share the greatness of God, and to listen to spiritual input of priests or deacons and faith-life reflections of our lay sharers.
  4. Parish engagement
Most of our Chapters have members who are active in their local Catholic Church. We support parishes through our participation in various ministries, bringing others to the Catholic faith, and sharing our tithes and donating our love offerings to the church.
  5. Spiritual and social outreach
We reach out and provide support to temporary foreign workers and new immigrants. In 2010, the former Bishop of the Diocese of Calgary, Most Reverend Frederick Henry, commended our work with foreign workers in Alberta, particularly in southern Alberta. Our parish-based prayer communities have become channels of spiritual enrichment and 'homes' for Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW) and their families working in hotels in Banff and in the meat processing industry in Brooks.
  6. Enriching the faith of children and youth
Our children and youth join us in our community prayers. They pray the Holy Rosary, adore the Blessed Sacrament and learn basic catechetics. They also lead the music ministry in our praise and worship and serve as a choir in Holy Trinity Church (Calgary).
GTA Children and Youth Ministry lead the yearly Good Friday Stations of the Cross at Holy Trinity Church.
  7. Fellowship
We spend time together after each community prayer, on holidays, during organized activities and at opportune times when we can listen and support each other. This is another important aspect of our community life.
