Altar Servers
“Your commitment to the altar is not only a duty,
but a great honor, a genuine holy service...
The altar server occupies a privileged place in the liturgical celebration.
The altar server presents himself or herself to a community and experiences firsthand
that Jesus Christ is present and active in every liturgical act.”
(Saint John Paul II)
The primary role of altar servers is to assist the priest during the liturgical celebration. They set an example for the rest of the congregation by faithfully carrying out their responsibilities during Mass.
Please encourage your children to be altar servers. In this way, you cultivate in them a strong desire to be present to the Lord Jesus Christ at His altar and to His Body, the Church. Serving at the altar during liturgical celebrations is an excellent way to deepen their faith and understanding of the Sacrifice of the Mass. As altar servers, they assist the priest in ensuring that the Sacrifice runs smoothly and parishioners can pray and worship more effectively and with less distraction.
